1" and Under Boards: Tie Down Slats, Scuff Boards, and Interior Trim
Square-edge hardwood boards one inch thick and under are the trim and liner parts of a trailer or truck body rather than structural decking. They are milled S4S with an eased or radius edge, so they present a smooth face that will not snag cargo, straps, or hands.
This is where the tie down slats, scuff boards, and interior trim live. Tie down slats (logistic slats) run the inside walls of enclosed bodies and give straps something to anchor against. Scuff boards, also called kickplate, take the abuse along the lower wall from pallets and forklift tines. Stake body liner slats face the side racks on open beds.
Stock in this thickness runs to nominal 1x3 and 1x6 sizes, in dense non-resinous Malaysian hardwood that holds a screw and resists abrasion, plus Apitong (Keruing) stake body liner slats. The radius edge is what keeps these boards from catching on cargo in daily use.
For structural decking, see the thicker dressed lumber and square-edge boards over 1 inch. The full set of interior parts is grouped on the enclosed trailer products page.
